Akbuk in Turkey where green meets blue
Akbuk (which means White Bay) is in the centre of Turkey's favorite coastline between Bodrum and Kusadasi, a superb location set in a pleasant natural environment by the sea. Akbuk is surrounded by forests with olive and pine trees. The region has many small clean beaches and bays, the sea is clean, safe and warm. Akbuk has a high oxygen rich atmosphere and is recommended by doctors for people suffering from asthmatic ailments.
Being situated at the foot of a long bay Akbuk is largely untouched and unspoiled by the major tourist industry. With an average of 300 sunny days a year and a gently breeze from the surrounding hills to cool you down especially in the peak summer months when temperatures can reach the high 40's Celsius.

Location
Akbuk is 70 Km from Bodrum (Milas) airport and 140 Km from Izmir airport, 60 Km from Kusadasi and just 20 Km from the resort of Didim/Altinkum with a regular cheap bus service. A new road is planned from Bodrum airport which will reduce transfer time to just 30 min's.
Close to many historical Greek and Roman cities such as Ephesus and Virgin Mary’s house, Ancient cities of Didyma, Miletos and Prienne.
Things To Do
Akbuk harbour is host to many different tours especially in the summer season and nearby islands & bays can be visited by boat trips. A number of boats offer pleasure cruises and fishing trips. If you are a keen angler fishing from almost any where along the Akbuk coastline will net you Sea Bass, Bream etc.
In the summer season a range of water sports and paragliding are available at the Club Patio Holiday Resort for a modest daily fee.
Many bars have music & entertainment and for the night clubbers the Sahte Cennet Beach Club & Disco offer dancing well into the night. The town is host to 2-3 open air live Turkish music festivals every summer.
A new 18 hole golf course is hoped to be built about 8 miles from the town within the next few years.
There is a weekly market every Friday and a Tuesday market about 5 miles out from the town centre.

Dining Out
There is a growing number of restaurants and cafe bars in Akbuk, enough to cater for all tastes and preferences. Choose from tasty Turkish cuisine to British steak & chips. No Indian curry house or Chinese take away yet but plenty of choice.
Being a Muslim town pork is not readily available in Akbuk.
Shops
Akbuk has a variety of shops and supermarkets selling just about everything you would need, hairdressers, barbers, clothes shops, Internet cafe's, doctors, chemists, builders merchants etc. Fruit & vegetables are very cheap.
The Down Sides?
New construction is everywhere currently there are around 20 new developments being built within the town itself and many more not far away, lots of individual properties are also being built. However since 2008 there has been a big reduction in new building with some sites on hold, many properties remain unsold.
Water shortages in the summer accompanied by occasional power cuts all year round.
Mosquitoes are rife although the council spray every day throughout the summer, because Akbuk is surrounded by forests mossies are a problem. Keep an eye out for snakes and scorpions in wooded areas.

The Caprice and Holiday Resort hotels are situated outside of Akbuk town about 5 miles from the town centre.
